Our Audiologists & Staff

Together, we have over 20 years of experience in the hearing industry. We started Amdahl Hearing to fulfill a need we recognized in the industry - high quality service where customer satisfaction is the only acceptable outcome.

Kevin Amdahl, M.S.

Co-Owner and President

I was born and raised in Wisconsin one of three children (sister Kim and brother John) to Dave and Jane Amdahl. Most of my early years were spent, hunting, fishing and doing all of the other things boys do in small communities. Our’s was also a wrestling family. My father was a teacher and wrestling coach in WI for over 35 years, and if you’ll permit me to boast for a moment, a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. So if I wasn’t outside, I was usually in some high school gym, watching, competing or coaching as my Dad's assistant.

I completed both my undergraduate and graduate work in Audiology at the University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point, finishing in 1994. Between 1994 and 2002 I worked in private practices in Lansing, MI and Willmar, MN, eventually becoming Director of Audiology Services in a practice with up to six locations. In 2002, I took a position with Micro-Tech, a hearing aid manufacturer, working in the education and training department. At Micro-Tech, I traveled extensively throughout the United States, training other hearing professionals on the latest hearing aid technology, as well as appropriate application of that technology to some of the most difficult hearing losses I've ever seen. I was lucky enough to be a featured speaker at national conventions and have had a paper published in a nationally published hearing journal. I eventually progressed to head of the education and training department, a position I held until July of 2007, when I opened our second practice location in Alexandria, MN.

My future plans are to continue to grow Amdahl Hearing, creating offices throughout Minnesota where people can expect top-notch hearing care from a very talented and professional staff in a fun and friendly environment.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my kids, Jesse and Katie, and my dog Sophie. You can also find me in the boat pursuing anything that swims, or hunting near our family cabin in northern MN.

Erica Fleck, Au.D.

Doctor of Audiology/Founder & CEO of Amdahl Hearing

I grew up in the small farming community of Rushville, IL population 3300 just 30 minutes south of Macomb, IL home of Western Illinois University. My parents Charles and Linda still live there as well as my brother Charlie and his wife Chanda. My family told me a few years ago that they always knew I would travel and leave Rushville. I graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL in 2001 with my Bachelor’s degree in Communication Disorders. From there I moved to Baton Rouge, LA to work on my Master’s degree in Communication Disorders, at Louisiana State University. After graduation in 2003, I decided to stay down south and started working for two Ear Nose and Throat Physicians out of Lafayette, LA. It was a wonderful experience and I was extremely fortunate to work with both Dr. Chastant and Dr. Joseph. Each doctor provided a unique perspective concerning hearing loss and provided me with a solid foundation to start my audiology career.

Toward the end of 2004, I was given an opportunity to move to St. Cloud, Minnesota to work for Micro-Tech, a hearing aid manufacturer, as their Government Sales Audiologist. In this new role, I was given the task to train Veteran Affairs Audiologists across the country on current hearing aid technology and software. I was a speaker at numerous national training seminars providing continuing education credits for both VA and private sector audiologists. Occasionally, some VA Audiologists requested onsite support for their difficult patient fittings. My position at Micro-Tech provided me with the expertise on hearing aid capabilities and the ability to push them to their limits.

In 2006, I decided to branch out on my own and started Amdahl Hearing. In 2007, the profession of Audiology decided to become a doctoring profession. With this new requirement in mind, I returned to school part-time and completed my doctorate through A. T. Still University on November 14, 2008.

In my spare time, I enjoy hunting, fishing, downhill skiing, spending time with my dog Hank and my friends.

I have always lived in Minnesota. I was born in St. Josephs Hospital in Brainerd. I am the youngest of three children born to Michael and Sharon Crosby. We lived in a small home, in a small town called Merrifield, where childhood fun consisted of riding our bikes, swimming at the public beach and making snow forts and leave houses. I graduated in 1992 from Crosby-Ironton High School, where I participated in Cheerleading, Choir and Track and Field. This is also where I met my husband, John, of now 18 years. After having our daughter Kristen and son Tyler we bought our home in Breezy Point. We lived there for 10 happy years raising our family and making many memories.

I was a successful small business owner for over 8 years, until the economy took its decline. I then began working for a small company doing clerical work. John's job re-located him to Alexandria and our family to our current home in Osakis. It was then I was lucky enough to become a part of Amdahl Hearing. Although I have only been with the company for a short time, I feel it to be a perfect fit.

In my spare time I like to take long walks, read, travel when I can, and spend time with my family and friends.
