Together, we have over 75 years of experience in the hearing industry. Our goal at Amdahl Hearing is to fulfill a need we recognized in the industry – high quality service where customer satisfaction is the only acceptable outcome.
Kevin Amdahl, M.S.
Owner and President
I was born and raised in Wisconsin one of three children (sister Kim and brother John) to Dave and Jane Amdahl. Most of my early years were spent, hunting, fishing and doing all of the other things boys do in small communities. Our’s was also a wrestling family. My father was a teacher and wrestling coach in WI for over 35 years, and if you’ll permit me to boast for a moment, a member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. So if I wasn’t outside, I was usually in some high school gym, watching, competing or coaching as my Dad’s assistant.
I completed both my undergraduate and graduate work in Audiology at the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, finishing in 1994. Between 1994 and 2002 I worked in private practices in Lansing, MI and Willmar, MN, eventually becoming Director of Audiology Services in a practice with up to six locations. In 2002, I took a position with Micro-Tech, a hearing aid manufacturer, working in the education and training department. At Micro-Tech, I traveled extensively throughout the United States, training other hearing professionals on the latest hearing aid technology, as well as appropriate application of that technology to some of the most difficult hearing losses I’ve ever seen. I was lucky enough to be a featured speaker at national conventions and have had a paper published in a nationally published hearing journal. I eventually progressed to head of the education and training department, a position I held until July of 2007, when I left the manufacturing world for private practice and Amdahl Hearing with the simple goal of doing a better job for the people struggling with hearing loss.
My future plans are to continue to grow Amdahl Hearing, helping as many people re-connect with their families, loved ones and activities that become so difficult with the onset of hearing loss. Further, it is my goal to tirelessly educate and engage the public on the dangers of noise exposure and the debilitating issues associated with tinnitus (ringing in the ears). We will continue to grow and serve, never losing sight of the fact that we are always dealing with a person…not just a hearing loss.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my amazing wife Jen and my kids, Jesse, Katie and Arielle. In the rare instance I’m not attending tennis, dance, cheer or other activities, I’m an avid hunter and fisherman.
Deric Peterson, Au.D.
Doctor of Audiology
I was born and raised in west central Minnesota, and received my Bachelor of Science in communication disorders from Minnesota State University-Mankato. From there, I went on to earn Masters and Doctorate degrees in audiology from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I completed my doctoral externship at the University of Minnesota Medical Center-Fairview and gained valuable experience seeing patients of all ages, which involved several different aspects of audiology.
I currently live in St. Cloud with my wife Jessica and our children Olivia, Ben, & Sam. When not in the office, I enjoy spending time with my family, fishing, hunting, watching Minnesota professional sports and spending time on the lake.
Maggie Nilson, Au. D.
Doctor of Audiology
I grew up in the Finger Lakes region of Upstate New York. I moved to Minnesota in 1998 after finishing my graduate work at the University of Arizona, Tucson. I find Minnesota to be much like New York, other than the bitter wind that makes winters so much colder here.
Since moving to Minnesota, I have worked in a variety of professional settings, including ENT offices, manufacturing companies, and private practice. In each placement, it has always been the interactions with patients and the opportunities to improve their quality of life that has inspired me in audiology.
In my professional career, I have also completed my doctoral degree through the University of Florida, Gainesville. I joined Amdahl Hearing in June 2012 and primarily work with insurance patients and veterans. When the opportunities arise, I enjoy going for a run, scrapbooking, gatherings with friends, and family time.

I was born and raised the middle child of 5 (3 sisters and 1 brother) in Minnesota. Following high school I attended Willmar Vo-Tech specializing in General Secretarial. I then worked in Willmar for 10 years, before going back to school to get an AAS Degree in Office Management from Alexandria Vo-Tech. After graduating I moved to St. Cloud and worked a number of jobs before joining Amdahl Hearing in 2007. I was the 1st employee of Amdahl Hearing.
I got married in 1996 to my husband Paul and live in Sartell, MN. I have a stepson, Glen and step-grandson, Cameron who live in South Dakota. In our spare time, Paul and I like to go camping in the summer, ride bike, go to the movies and go on walks.

I graduated from Little Falls High School in 2009 and then went on to SCTCC, where I received my accounting degree in the fall of 2011. I started working at Amdahl Hearing in February 2013.
I married my husband, Mitchell, in July 2011. We have twin boys, born December 2015, named Xavier and Dametrius, and a chihuahua-dachshund named Lucy. We live in Little Falls, where we are able to be close to both of our families. I like to listen to live music, go on little trips to Duluth and go camping.
I’m happy to be part of the better-hearing team at Amdahl Hearing, and I’m enjoying meeting all the patients who come in to see us.

Lydia grew up in Vail, AZ, and moved to Minnesota in 2012. She attended Concordia University in St. Paul and graduated with her bachelor’s degree in music business. During her time at Concordia, she worked in the admissions department as front office staff, growing passionate about helping people every day.
After graduation, she knew she wanted to find a similar position, and eventually found her way to Amdahl Hearing. Lydia’s goal is to help Amdahl Hearing grow as a company by providing excellent customer service and helping patients every day.
In her spare time, she enjoys exercising and knitting.
I have spent most of my life in Central Minnesota; I was raised in Cold Spring and went to college in St. Cloud. I attended St. Cloud State University (Go Huskies!) where I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communication studies. I started part-time at Amdahl Hearing in 2012 while still in school, and I worked my way up to secure a full-time position after graduation.
I met my husband, Joe, while attending SCSU, and we got married in 2016. We keep busy between spending time with family, visiting state parks, and playing with our dog, Rosie. I enjoy crafting, reading, knitting, and exploring all that Minnesota has to offer.
